One of the most interesting times in the life of a woman is when she is expecting. At this time she is frustrated as well as extremely excited. This time in her life is one which stops her from reaching many goals for which she is competent. Present day mothers are not solely responsible for the upbringing of their child. Fathers have to be equally participating. But it is a fact that it is the mother who has to bear the most burden. What do those mothers go through who are entrepreneurs as well?
The fact is that there are a lot of mothers who believe that it is far better to be an entrepreneur than to work under someone, as an employee. This is true as you are your own boss and you do not have to listen to anyone give you orders. This is good also because it makes it easier for you to plan your time for the child and for work. This is also an opportunity for deciding on your own schedule as to where and when you want to go.
Before the Internet Era began it was difficult for mom entrepreneurs to manage their daily routine, but it is not so difficult nowadays. Technological advancements have made entrepreneurship easier, for everyone, be it the mothers, elders, or newbies. Those mothers who are entrepreneurs can take care of home along with earning money. Internet has made it very easy for the home based mom entrepreneurs to work. This is a big advantage of internet.
The mom entrepreneurs have a good chance of a global business as well. This is due to internet allowing people from all over the world to work with each other. It is no longer writing hard copy letters and waiting a week for a reply. It is no longer necessary to travel long distances to meet customers and clients. You can talk face to face in front of your computer screen. There are a lot of opportunities that can be easily availed by these mom entrepreneurs. It is far easier for mom entrepreneurs to make money as compared to mom employees.
What is required to be a mom entrepreneur? For those mothers to join the league of women who comprise about 10.6 million women all over the world and produce over 2.5 trillion dollars of income, the only thing required is the zeal to be a entrepreneur. Along with this one needs patience to a greater extent than others who are not mothers. It is a tough job to take care of the child and the business at the same time. In the toughest situations one must know how to keep cool, and this is a must for mom entrepreneurs. Being patient with the business and child, both are essential. No screaming at the child, customer, client, or partner.
There are a lot of problems that may pop up any time and one has to be prepared for all of them. A mom entrepreneur has to bear pressures. The golden rule is to keep telling yourself that you are a mother and you have passed the toughest test and most painful experience, so these problems, too, will pass.
One of the things that you can do to ease the pressure is to hire a nanny, if you can afford it. This is good as they would be there to take care of the child when you are not there all the time. Your nanny could be a hired person, grandma, grandpa, your househusband, or partner. This would allow you to work in those unusual times which happen in businesses often. But never forget that family comes first and your family is more important than business. Go get ’em moms! Go for it!
I am not a woman, but I have helped raise a son, daughter, and two granddaughters.
I know some of the pressure. I really respect and look up to mothers who are also pursuing a career. Keep up the good work.
